Loreto Valenzuela (b. 1973, Chile) is a visual and performance artist based in Germany. Working across painting, movement, drawing, and spatial arrangements, she treats time as material—composing passages of attention through gestures, markings, threads, and thresholds. Her practice is process-led and embodied, often returning to an active archive of works, notes, and images through re-ordering, interruption, and “reset” as method. A daily discipline—stretch, sketch and reboot- play not to forget what is like to be human.&#38;nbsp;


Recent projects include Project[ions] (Südufer Freiburg, 2024), a vernissage performance for Steph Huang’s The water that bears the boat (Galerie für Gegenwartskunst / E-Werk Freiburg, 2024), A Whisper of the Stone (Kaiserwache Off Space, Freiburg, 2023), UNCERTAIN.T (Delphi Space, Freiburg, 2022), and Club Unique (concept/curation/performance format, E-Werk Freiburg, 2022-2026).

	Deeply indebted to science and philosophy for enticing my practice in art — for expanding its methods and deepening its questions. Through collaborations with scientists and philosophers, I explore the porous boundaries between perception and thought, art and knowledge, and the shared curiosity that binds them. Engaging with other fields, with their distinct methods and ways of thinking, becomes a way to activate my practice and to resist the comfort of conformity.

Coming up&#38;nbsp;2026 Workshops ︎︎︎Inspired by artists such as Louise Bourgeois and Andrés Pérez, these events reimagined the “party” as a space for shared authorship and reflection. Projec like Birthday P[art]Y and La Mesa invited participants to exchange objects, stories, and roles, generating temporary communities of empathy and invention. Each occasion became a living artwork — a celebration of togetherness and the subtle politics of how we narrate ourselves.

	Community engagement is central to my practice, often taking the form of Performing Parties — participatory events that blur boundaries between performance, ritual, and play. Initiated in Cambridge, these gatherings transformed private and public spaces into sites of co-creation, where participants explored identity, memory, and collective imagination through storytelling, drawing, and improvisation.
